Bradford 2025 is supporting "Building Basslines," a project focused on developing local youth talent in the city's signature sound. We're running workshops leading up to the Bassline Symphony event (https://bradford2025.co.uk/event/bassline-symphony/), offering practical experience in music production and a deeper understanding of the genre's history.
These workshops cover:
The History of Bassline: Exploring its cultural impact and development within Bradford.
Music Production: Hands-on sessions where young people create their own tracks.
We're currently working with Bradford Youth Service to deliver these sessions across the district. Additionally, we're running workshops in schools including Immanuel College, Belle Vue Girls Academy, and Oastlers Bradford and Keighley.
DJ and producer Sean Coy, a key figure in the bassline scene, is leading the workshops. Participants will learn the production techniques that have defined the genre in Bradford's clubs.
Alongside the workshops, we're creating a resource that documents the key figures and cultural impact of bassline in Bradford. This aims to preserve and celebrate the music's influence on the city.
This project focuses on providing practical skills and contextual knowledge, allowing young people to engage with and contribute to Bradford's musical heritage.
